James joined Tatsu Partners in May 2024 bringing with him over 17 years’ leveraged finance experience partnering with both mid-cap and large-cap private equity clients. James was a Managing Director, and one of the founding members, of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) private equity sponsor coverage and leveraged finance business, where he spent 15 years and helped contribute to its rapid growth as an emerging investment banking franchise in Europe.
 
James is a Chartered Accountant and trained with PwC and then spent five years at EY in transaction services prior to starting his career in leveraged finance with Credit Agricole, CIBC and then RBC. 
 
James is a keen squash player and also enjoys keeping fit road cycling and is a fully committed MAMIL participating in (and just about managing to complete!) cycling events like the Etape and Maratona. James also enjoys skiing and snowboarding with family and friends, whenever he finds the opportunity, which is fairly often. He has also recently joined the Padel tennis craze which has provided yet another excuse to purchase more sports gear. 
 
James also has an eclectic taste in music; in fact, he and Mike both have a shared passion for 1990’s gangster rap, much to the rest of the team’s amusement.
